Hastelloy C22 Round Bars are cylindrical bars made of Hastelloy C22 alloy, which are used for various applications that require high resistance to corrosion & other aggressive environments. These round bars are available in various diameters & lengths to suit specific requirements. However, unlike their austenitic stainless steel or carbon steel grade counterparts, the Hastelloy Alloy C22 Round Bar is not vulnerable to stress caused by these upset conditions. Moreover, the Hastelloy C22 Bar is resilient to corrosion caused by both oxidative and reductive mediums. When exposed to oxidative agents such as ferric acids or acetic anhydride or even in oxidizing aqueous media, the Hastelloy C22 round bar proves to be useful due to its corrosion resistance properties.
Hastelloy C22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. It offers excellent corrosion resistance and performance properties. It is known for its superb improved corrosion-resistant property to resist stress corrosion cracking, pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion. It has outstanding strength, durability, and used under high temperature and concentration applications. Hastelloy C22 Round Bars are very amenable. ASTM B575 Hastelloy C22 Round Bars Properties
Hastelloy C22 round bars show remarkable resistance to a wide variety of corrosive media. In chemical plants where strong acids like sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and nitric acid are used, they can remain stable and undamaged. They are also highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride - containing environments, ensuring the long - term reliability of equipment.
High - Temperature Stability
These round bars perform well at high temperatures. They can maintain their mechanical strength and structural integrity even at elevated temperatures. This property makes them suitable for applications in high - temperature furnaces, heat exchangers in the petrochemical industry, and other high - temperature processes.
Despite its high - performance characteristics, Hastelloy C22 round bars have good weldability. Common welding methods such as tungsten inert gas welding (TIG) and metal inert gas welding (MIG) can be used. After welding, the welded joints can maintain excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. In terms of formability, it can be processed by conventional metal - working techniques like forging, rolling, and machining to meet the shape requirements of different components. Hastelloy C22 Round Bar Technology
Hastelloy C22 round bars Cold Forming
Cold forming of Hastelloy C22 round bars is performed by standard methods as high-nickel alloys. The work-hardening rate of the alloy is done through cold hardening process. Hastelloy C22 round bars is some-what softer in the annealed condition and requires lower forces for deformation. The Alloy is treated with cold picking liquid solutions. There is the formation of the oxide film on the Hastelloy C22 round bars form. The cold forming process of the Hastelloy is done by bathing the element in caustic solution with the molten state. The process is further followed by acid pickling at extremely high temperature.
Hastelloy C22 round bars Hot Forming
The hot forming should be done in a temperature within 1600℃F and 2250℃F (870℃-1230℃). Their resistance to deformation increases because of the less temperature in hot working range. Hot working temperatures for Hastelloy C22 round bars are very high so a necessary precaution must be taken while performing the hot forming process. After annealing is done it should be quickly followed by cold quenching which will help the metal to retain its property.
Hastelloy C22 round bars Machining
Hastelloy C22 round bars is classified as moderate to difficult when machining, however these alloys can be machined using conventional production methods at satisfactory rates. During the machining processes these alloys work harden rapidly, generate high heat during cutting, weld to the cutting tool surface and offer high resistance to metal removal because of their high shear strengths.
Hastelloy C22 Welding
Hastelloy C22 round bars is known to have good weldability. The most common welding processes used to weld the Hastelloy C22 round bars are the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW / "TIG"), gas metal arc welding (GMAW / "MIG"), and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW / "Stick") processes. In addition to these common arc welding processes, other welding processes such plasma arc welding (PAW), resistance spot welding (RSW), laser beam welding (LBW), and electron beam welding (EBW) are used. Submerged arc welding (SAW) is generally discouraged as this process is characterized by high heat input to the base metal, which promotes distortion, hot cracking, and precipitation of secondary phases that can be detrimental to material properties and performance.
